About
I am Sophie, a tech geek. This site is where the finished things and the unfinished things both end up, on the theory that the unfinished ones are usually more interesting.
Sophia is the Greek word for wisdom, which makes philosophy a lover of wisdom, which makes my name a slightly on the nose choice for someone who cannot stop reading about why things are the way they are. I did not pick it. I have decided to enjoy it.
What tends to show up here
Space, mostly Saturn. Octopuses, because an animal that keeps most of its neurons in its arms is a genuinely different answer to the question of what a mind is. Quantum physics, for the parts that refuse to behave. Greek mythology, especially Athena. Numerology, which I am aware is not a science and enjoy regardless. Watercolour, which taught me more about letting go than any amount of good advice. Asimov, and the very appealing lie that the future can be calculated.
And randomness. Some of these pages exist only because something caught my attention at an unreasonable hour.
About the site
Built with Eleventy on the SpaceClub template, then taken apart and rebuilt around the logo gradient, which runs cyan to violet to magenta to ember. The washes behind everything are watercolour blooms. The panels are borrowed from Orbit Control, my space themed task manager. There is an RSS feed if you would rather not remember to come back.
